While i see your point steege , what else did you expect Sony to do.
Just sit on their ass an let Marvel take away the franchise ? The deal Marvel made with studios like Fox & Sony was that they could use their characters as long as they were able to make movies within a specific timeframe.
Hence why Sony is hurrying to get Spidey in theaters. Otherwise the rights revrrt back to marvel

Raimi had balls. He used practical effects. He did pre-work on the effects alone before principle photography started. This guy is nothing. No real movies, and some music videos. They hired him so they could control him. Hes like McMuffin. A shell that the company can cover with a brand or a from line so the sheep will flock for the first few weeks.

No he doesn't. If Raimi had balls , he would've given the studio the finger the moment everybody started saying to include Venom and Gwen Stacy. Raimi just stood there and did nothing.
Not only that but the guy refuses to take the series into more mature levels and sticking wit crap like emo peter.
Seriously how the fuck can any superhero movie be considered best wth a Peter Parker running to the sound of "Rain Drops Keep Falling On my Head ". That SHIT IS FUCKING RETARDED.
THe fact that he was going to use a FUCKIN Baby as the next big hurdle for MJ and Peteré relationship was jusyt too much

This is the truth. The only way i can enjoy raimi's spider-man is if i fastforward to the action scenes. ANyting in between in boring as shit.
I for one am glad to see Raimi's gone.
I'm gonna give Marc Webb a chance. Till he does something that royally screws up everything , i'm gonna support this decision by the studio.

What exactly was wrong with that scene? The acting's not great, but that's not Andrew Garfield so who cares? The action was good for a western fighting scene. That scene will probably never happen anyway, unless there's a flashback. I sincerely hope they won't try to have Garfield play a high school kid, so the setting will probably be different.

Garfield as Spider-Man... hmmm... Cheap humour, but I still need to see that photoshop.

Slowmo, its a reboot. Back to high school. It will happen.

I also don't think theres anything really wrong with the fight scene. Techincally, Spidey has superhuman strength so him hitting those high school kids like that would break some bones. They wouldn't be getting up like that. I didn't like the jump on the locker or how he kept landing in the same spidey pose over and over.

that fight scene seemed way to corny... i agree if he'd quit landing posed all the time it may make it better...that and quit making all those stupid facial expressions

Right now I think I'm more interested in seeing the next Narnia movie than this.

When I was in 5th grade, we had to read an excerpt from Voyage of The Dawn Treader, and then write our own short story about it. I ended up writing a crossover where the flying boat crashes into somebody from another story I'd read (I can't remember for the life of me. :[), and hilarity ensued. I wonder if I have that packed somewhere...

Mary Jane Won’t Be Love-Interest in SPIDER-MAN Reboot; Candidates Include Emma Roberts, Teresa Palmer, More
With Andrew Garfield locked to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, the search continues to find the web-slinger’s love-interest. However, unlike Raimi’s trilogy, the love interest won’t be Mary Jane. While presumably that means the love interest is Gwen Stacy, Heat Vision reports that script pages given to actresses reading for the role don’t reveal the character’s name.

Among those actresses are (from left-to-right in the image above) Imogen Poots (Solitary Man), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy), Lily Collins (The Blind Side), Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), and Emma Roberts (Valentine’s Day). HV makes clear “These are not screentests, which usually involve some sort of dealmaking, but rather readings and meetings,” and that another round of searching could take place if these actresses don’t work out. Hit the jump for more on the project. The Spider-Man reboot is set to open in 3D on July 3, 2012.

We already know that Sony and Webb are going for a “more gritty, contemporary redo of the series”. The budget is also rumored to be in the $80 million range (the original 2002 film reportedly cost $139 million). Finally, while we don’t know who the villain is (although it’s rumored to be The Lizard), we know that Sony looked at Inglourious Basterds‘ Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender for the role. Heat Vision says that the film will be set in high school, although it’s been reported that the setting would be moved to college due to Garfrield’s age (he’ll be 27 tomorrow). It’s worth noting that the ages of the actresses mentioned above range from 19 to 24. Of course, actors playing beneath their age is a time-honored tradition. The question is how far beneath their age can they go with the audience still buying it.

“more gritty, contemporary redo of the series”

eh? what does that mean? Not as goofy? And I thought the first three felt contemporary enough.

That means more superficial talking about emotions and more r&b music in the background. I hope Peter Parker gets a black best friend who can rap and breakdance.

I hope Spiderman just becomes black halfway through the movie. No explanation needed, that would just make it awkward.

That would be amazing! At the beginning, we're introduced to nerdy, white Peter, and watch him become Spider-Man. He puts on the mask, and a 30 minute action scene happens, then, 3/4 through the movie, after having not seen Peter since the first act, the villain pulls his mask off, and it's Will Smith. Then he starts busting out The Fresh Prince of Bell Air, and the movie just cuts to black.

:P

Seriously though, I do start to wonder just how many movies are going to claim to be "grittier" when instead they just mean more melodramatic. I mean christ you all saw how Spiderman 3 was hyped as going to be some dark, grittier sequel, and then jeeeesus....
