I've been working on a fanfiction in which a hacker called Loki creates a virus that causes people trapped the matrix to realize The Architect of the matrix only synthesizes events that apear random and all events within the matrix are all predictable, some people use this to win at casinos some use it to jump from great hights and land safely and so on the only problem is the virus also causes the victim to be forced to be connected to the matrix perminatly. An anciant program called Eris is contacted by the inhabitants of Zion to free the infected humans.
